Before joining Turpin, Valerie enjoyed 12 years in direct sales for the women's fashion business at a leading New York City-based firm. She is also an entrepreneur who developed a loyal client base selling designer clothing.

Valerie believes in giving back to her community, and she is involved with numerous local organizations including the Essex Hunt Club in Peapack and the Somerset Lake and Game Club in Far Hills. She has been active with the Pingry School, the Lamington Presbyterian Church and Friends of Matheny. In December 2004, Valerie became a trustee of the Henry H. Kessler Foundation.

A resident of Oldwick for 20 years, Valerie is married with two grown sons. Born and educated in the United Kingdom, she became a U.S. citizen in 1993.
